In my opinion making and selling wax melts is a relatively easy business to start up
The idea of working from home doesn't seem as far fetched as it once was, but maybe you want to work from home and be your own boss too....
AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST IS THE CHECKLIST OF WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE & SELL WAX MELTS... so if you want to skip through this bit feel free but I do recommend you read it at some point
Back in 2020, along side my regular day job (which I also do from home but is completely not related to this) I decided to invest a small sum of money and buy the materials to make my own scented wax melts. I have spent years spending lots of money on scented wax and numerous other things to fragrance my home.
We live in a time where cleaning your house and creating a welcoming environment is a big business.
Instagram is full of home accounts showcasing their beautiful homes and long gone are the days where home fragrance was an overly expensive candle, there is a big wide world of home fragrance out there and wax melts is the dominator
If you're already familiar with wax melts you'll know that this is a saturated market. In fact it is heavily saturated and a quick search on google, instagram or Facebook will throw out hundreds of results
You can cut corners and save money by finding second hand/pre loved equipment on Facebook destash sites however I don't recommend this to start off.
You're going to want equipment that is traceable back to the supplier in case of product recalls (I will cover that elsewhere, I have no experience of this happening but I do know the actions you need to take and will cover this in a future post)

Obviously if you don't plan to start selling straight away you can eliminate some of the above until you're ready to turn your makes into money.
I will add links to all of the products I use in my next blog post. There are swarms of suppliers out there and I have used many and I have my favourites

DISCLAIMER- The purpose of this blog is not to provide a tutorial, just simply to document how I do things and where I buy from and some friendly advice on how to keep things legal & safe. Although wax melts aren't lit like a candle you do still have a duty of care to provide your customers with safe products
Thank You for reading if you got this far
Peace Out
Sarah :)
